Fold your dark green felt in half and draw a line from top corner to bottom right corner, cut.

I used a hot glue gun to glue the trunk under the base of the tree.
Use a measuring tape if you’re a perfectionist and want to get it dead set centre.

I used double sided tape to stick the tree to the wall.
(You can probably hear HB screaming at your house), but you can use pins.
Make the tree flush with the wall so little fingers won’t be tempted to slip underneath and rip it off.
Use your cookie cutters to trace and cut out shapes.
Large rectangles look good as presents under the tree.

The felt shapes automatically stick to the tree and don’t need any backing or tape.

Have your felt tree looking absolutely perfect …

Then let your toddler have a go.

Quietly rearrange when she’s not looking.

Maggie loves to decorate the tree and her head, so it seems.

I had Gabby around to help, and all up it took less than 30 minutes to create. I placed the tree on a wall in our kitchen, which is the central hub of our family life. Maggie has been more than happy to spend twenty minutes or so decorating her tree whilst I get dinner on.

Thank you, sweet baby Jeebus.

Fingers crossed, now that she has her own special Christmas tree, she might leave the big tree alone when we put it up on December 1st.

Please note this is a tutorial only and unfortunately, I do not sell ready to go kits.

I will be using the felt with a small amount of velcro on each decoration. We make other crafts with this concept and it works very well!

Would you mind telling me how tall the green felt part of the tree ended up? I’m not sure the standard width of a bolt where you are. I’m working with a US bolt and it’s a crazy 72″! Thanks!
